Changing the background color of Outlook Express e-mail is easy!
While in the body of the e-mail,
- click on the Format button
- Select Background
- Select Color
- Make your selection from the color choices.
Be sure your text style and color will show up clearly on the color you've chosen!

You can also use an image (graphic) as a background. The image will repeat (tile) as needed to fill the entire body of the e-mail.

Adding sound to your e-mail
|
|
|
|
The two most common formats for audio files used in e-mail are waves and midis.
Sound files can be HUGE in file size, and should be used with caution. Midis are usually considerably smaller than waves. Unless a wave is *very* short, try to use a midi file instead in e-mails. The file extensions often used for these files are .wav and .mid

While in the body of the e-mail,
- Click on the Format button
- Select Background
- Select Sound. This opens a dialog box.
- Click the Browse button, and navigate to where your audio files are stored. Windows includes some sound files, in the Windows/Media folder. You may need to use the drop down at the bottom of the navigation box to show the midi (*.mid) files
- When you have located the sound file, click on it, then click on the Open button in the dialog box
- Select how often you want the sound to play, or have it play continuously while the e-mail is open.
- Click OK
