I really REALLY hate pop-up (and pop-under, and on-exit) ads, and when I get stuck on a site where the people got sooooo clever and just
create one pop-up after another, I make *sure* I never visit there again (or any of their ads).
I'm going to recommend some free
programs - but need to add a "warning". Most free programs stop any new browser window from opening, so if you *want* a new window to open, you have to temporarily turn the program off, or use a special command.
I use pop-up windows in Chat101 (like this page). Some sites that I visit, I know that pop-up ads aren't a problem, so I turn the
program off. When surfing the web, I turn the program on, and just remember to use the command (usually either <shift> or <alt> when clicking on the link) to open a new window.
Pop-Up Stopper from Panicware - my personal favorite. Also their Pro version for less than $20 with additional features.
