Using the Print Commands
You Are Here: Internet 101 >> Printing from the Web >> Print Command

The Print Command

After you have made your selection, you should use the menu of the web browser.

The Print button of the web browser will print one copy of the entire web page showing on the browser to the default printer (the main printer set up for that computer).

For more printing options, use the menu bar of your browser (the series of words toward the top). Click on the File group of commands in the browser menu bar, and select Print. Printer Dialog BoxThis will open up a new window called a dialog box.  Here is what a typical dialog box might look like:

Click in the option of your choice:

  • Print ALL of the web page
  • Print a certain number of printed pages from the web page.  If you are printing an entire web page and believe it should all fit on one printed page, choose to print from page 1 to 1 - this will stop a second page being printed with just a single line on it.
  • Print the part of the web page you have selected.
  • If the web page was built using a type of design called “frames”, you may also choose which frame you want to print. The dialog box will assume that whichever frame (part of the web page) you have your mouse pointer active is the frame you want printed.
  • You can change the number of copies you would like to print in this dialog box.
  • Hint: Use the Properties button to make changes to the way your printer will print the page - you may be able to change the quality of the printing, or choose color/black & white from the Properties dialog box. What options are in the Properties dialog box depends on the type of printer you have installed.

When you are ready to print, click the OK button. You may also cancel the request to print with the Cancel button
