Printing from the Internet

There are all kinds of printers - dot matrix, inkjet, color inkjet, laser, and color laser are the most common. Once you have installed your printer, put the user’s manual and driver software (the software that tells the computer what kind of printer you have & sets it up properly) in a safe place.

The printer may print in black & white or color. If you have a color printer, you may want to print many of your pages in black & white to save money.

One page on an Internet web site may be more than one page on a printer. Unless you instruct the printer differently, it will try to print the entire page as it appears on the Internet (except animated graphics) - the graphics on the page, the buttons and navigation, and any advertisements.  If the Internet page is too wide for the printer page, the printed version may be a little imperfect.

If you need just part of an web page, you can select that part and print it.
Note:  The AOL browser may not have these options. If you are an AOL subscriber, you may want to install  Internet Explorer or Netscape on your computer to allow you the full range of options. You would connect to the Internet via AOL, minimize or close the AOL browser, then open the Internet Explorer or Netscape.
