Pop-Up Windows

Web site designers can make a second browser window open when you click on a link, or even just visit a page. The second browser window may be a “pop up” that can be a very small window (often an advertisement), or a full sized browser window.

If the new window is about something you’re not interested in, you can close it with the Close button Close Browser Button.

Click on the Jack-in-the-box to see a Pop Up Window.   Close the window when you are done.

One of the advantages of having a link open up in a new browser window is you don’t lose your place on the original one.

Many web sites are using pop up windows for ads, though, and they can be annoying.  Just close the ones you don’t want to look at as you go along.
